ShelfCheck never stores your photos, never sells your data, and never shares your personal information with advertisers. Your collection is yours - we just help you organize it.
Free users: product photos are stored locally on your phone only. We never upload or access them. Premium users: photos can optionally sync to secure cloud storage for access across devices - this is off by default and you control it. When you use AI recognition, the image is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. We don't store it on our servers beyond the request. Google retains the image for up to 55 days for abuse monitoring, then deletes it - it's not used to train AI models.
Your product catalog is stored securely in the cloud so you can access it across devices. Each account is completely isolated - no one else can see your collection. We use industry-standard encryption for all data in transit and at rest.
We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Period. If we ever offer anonymized, aggregated insights to beauty brands in the future, no individual user data will ever be identifiable.
We collect your email address to create your account and send you important updates like expiry reminders. We won't spam you. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app.
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver expiry reminders. A device token is collected and tied to your account so reminders reach the right phone. Tokens are never used for advertising, and they're deleted when you sign out or delete your account.
Subscription and purchase history is processed by RevenueCat (revenuecat.com), our processor for App Store and Play Store transactions. After you delete your account, RevenueCat retains purchase records as billing metadata - similar to Apple and Google's own purchase receipts.
AI product recognition is processed by Google's Gemini API. We don't keep a copy of the image on our servers beyond the request lifecycle. Google retains image inputs for up to 55 days for abuse monitoring, then deletes them - they aren't used to train AI models. We strip photo metadata before transmission.
Our website uses minimal cookies for basic functionality. We don't use tracking cookies or advertising pixels. Email signup data is processed by Mailchimp and subject to their privacy policy.
You can delete your account at any time. When you do, all your product data is permanently removed from our servers. Photos were never on our servers to begin with - they stay on your device. Learn how to delete your account.
